After spending 48 years in prison, a 70-year-old man has been exonerated by a US court

After spending 48 years in prison for a murder he did not commit, 70-year-old Glynn Simmons has been officially exonerated by an Oklahoma judge. Simmons, who was released in July, had crucial evidence withheld from his defense lawyers.

The county district attorney stated on Monday that there was insufficient evidence for a new trial. In her ruling on Tuesday, Judge Amy Palumbo declared Simmons innocent, emphasizing clear and convincing evidence that he did not commit the crime.

Simmons, who served time for the 1974 murder, expressed resilience, maintaining his innocence throughout. He is currently battling liver cancer, and a GoFundMe has been set up to support his living costs and chemotherapy.
