The Grammy organization reveals the recipients of the lifetime achievement awards for 2024

The Recording Academy, responsible for the Grammys, has disclosed the recipients of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards. The honorees include singer Laurie Anderson, gospel vocal group The Clark Sisters, R&B artist Gladys Knight, hip-hop group N.W.A, along with Donna Summer and Tammy Wynette.

In a statement on Friday, the Grammy organizers explained that the Special Merit Award is granted by the Recording Academy’s National Trustees to performers who have made exceptional artistic contributions throughout their lifetimes.

In addition, the recipients of the 2024 Trustees Award include Peter Asher, DJ Kool Herc, and Joel Katz, while Tom Kobayashi and Tom Scott are being honored with the Technical GRAMMY Award. The song ‘Refugee,’ written by Somalian singer K’naan, Steve McEwan, and Gerald Eaton (a.k.a. Jarvis Church), is recognized with the Best Song For Social Change Award.

The Special Merit Awards ceremony is set to take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on February 3, 2024. Simultaneously, the main Grammy ceremony is scheduled for February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Nigerian artists, including Davido, Burna Boy, Tems, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide, have received nominations across various categories for the 66th Grammys.
