Enugu police apprehend two suspects, seize firearms, and discover crystal meth

Enugu State Police Command has apprehended Chekwube Nwobodo, 27, and Ifeanyi Edeh, 30, on charges of armed robbery and burglaries. The arrests are linked to alleged criminal activities in the Obinagu-Etiti and Nara-Unateze communities within the Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state. The police recovered a locally crafted pistol with two live cartridges, as well as substances believed to be crystal meth (Mpkuru-Mmiri) and marijuana.

According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Tuesday in Enugu, this achievement occurred on January 3, around 2:40 p.m.

Ndukwe mentioned that other members of the suspects’ gang who managed to escape are currently being pursued.

He stated, “The suspects and their at-large gang members are accused of carrying out various armed robberies, burglaries, and other criminal activities in the specified area. However, having been apprehended, the suspects will face legal proceedings once investigations are concluded.”

Ndukwe highlighted that this operational success aligns with the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu’s, 2024 New Year assurances, emphasizing the commitment of the police to a more proactive and forward-looking policing approach. “The commissioner has reaffirmed that the police commitment to actualize this remains unwavering,” Ndukwe added.
