JUST IN: Explosion rocks Kaduna community

An explosion in Kidandan Village, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has resulted in one confirmed death and multiple injuries. The Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, announced the incident in a statement on Saturday night. Zaidu Usman, one of the victims, lost his life, and several others are receiving medical attention at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.

Following preliminary reports from the traditional institution and security agencies, an explosion occurred in Kidandan Village, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident resulted from a pupil picking up an object from the bush, which later exploded among fellow pupils.

As of the latest update, one pupil, Zaidu Usman, has been confirmed dead, while approximately 10 injured victims are receiving medical attention at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika.

Governor Uba Sani expressed shock and sadness over the incident, offering condolences to the victims’ families. He urged parents and community leaders to enhance vigilance on the activities of children. The Governor directed the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs to collaborate with security agencies for a prompt investigation into the cause of the explosion, ensuring residents’ safety, mobilizing emergency support, and providing swift medical attention to the victims.

Earlier, a resident of Kidandan, Ibrahim Abubakar, confirmed the explosion, stating that several individuals, including children, sustained injuries. This incident occurred just four days after a devastating explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State.
