AFCON: Super Eagles’ allowances, bonuses not delayed by CBN – NFF

Three coaches shortlisted

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted claims suggesting that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is causing delays in the payment of match bonuses and allowances owed to the Super Eagles participating in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Recent reports had indicated that the CBN was holding back payments of match bonuses and allowances owed to Jose Peseiro’s team.

However, in a statement issued by its General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, on Tuesday, the NFF clarified that the Nigerian football governing body has not encountered any delays from the CBN.

“The concoction of lies against the institution is unfair,” part of the NFF’s statement reads.

“At this time, we have not encountered any delays or complications in processes at the CBN, and we commend them for their diligence and strong sense of duty.”

Meanwhile, following their victory over Cameroon in the round of 16, the Super Eagles are set to take on Angola in the quarter-final clash on Friday.
