Davido

Davido, the Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, described the introduction of the Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys as “divinely timed.”

During a recent interview with France 24, Davido was asked whether the addition of an African music category at the Grammys was appropriate, to which he responded that it was perfectly timed according to God’s plan.

He acknowledged that African music and culture have long been influential but are now beginning to receive global recognition.

When asked about his thoughts on the new category, Davido replied, “God’s timing is always perfect. African music has been influential for many years. So, if you’re asking if we should have been recognized earlier, then yes, definitely. But these things take time. As I mentioned, God’s timing is perfect.”

He expressed his delight about the new category, not just for himself but also for his fellow nominees. He found it wonderful that people from Africa can now create music and potentially win a Grammy. Davido concluded by stating that he wouldn’t call it late, emphasizing that it’s a manifestation of God’s timing.
