AFCON: South Africa coach, Broos vows to exploit Super Eagles’ weaknesses

Hugo Broos, the head coach of South Africa, has expressed his intention to capitalize on the vulnerabilities of the Super Eagles when their teams face off in the semi-final match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The encounter is scheduled to take place at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake on Wednesday night.

This match will mark the first meeting between the two countries in the AFCON finals since the Super Eagles eliminated the Bafana Bafana in the semi-finals during the 2000 edition.

The former champions secured a spot in the semi-finals after prevailing over Cape Verde 2-1 on penalties on Saturday night.

“We are now aware that our next opponent will be Nigeria. We are in the semi-final, so starting from tomorrow, we will begin our analysis to identify and exploit any weaknesses in their team. However, we also need to be mindful of their strengths as they possess many qualities,” Broos stated during a press conference.

“For both teams, this match holds some significance as we will face each other again in a few months for the World Cup qualifiers. Therefore, it serves as a test for both sides.”
