Fire razes Lagos sawmill, destroys goods worth millions of Naira

On Sunday, a fierce blaze engulfed a sawmill situated along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, near Awori Bus Stop, Abule Egba, Lagos.

The fire ravaged planks and various other items with an estimated value in the millions of Naira.

As of 4:30 pm, emergency responders, including personnel from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, were actively engaged in extinguishing the intense flames. As of the time of this report, the exact cause of the incident remains unknown, whether immediate or remote.

However, according to an eyewitness, the fire erupted around 3:47 pm at the expansive sawmill site in the area. Affected traders rushed to the burning market, attempting to salvage their goods from the inferno.

Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, stated that the situation has been brought under control, preventing the fire from spreading beyond the sawmill. “Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident,” confirmed Adeseye.
