I will go crazy if I win Grammy – Davido

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, also known as Davido, expressed his excitement about the possibility of winning the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Award Ceremony tonight. Davido’s song ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys is among the nominees in this category. In an interview with Billboard at the Pre-Grammy show, Davido shared his anticipation, stating that he would celebrate wildly if he were to win the award for Best African Music Performance.

However, he emphasized that he would be happy for all Africans regardless of the outcome. “I am just pleased that we all have the opportunity to shine. Imagine if there was no African category? So, ultimately, we should all rejoice in having this category, something that belongs to us. Whoever emerges victorious, it’s a win for Africa. If I happen to win, we will celebrate and go wild,” he expressed.

‘Unavailable’ will vie for the Grammy against Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Asake’s ‘Amapiano,’ and South Africa’s Tyla’s ‘Water.’

Davido is also nominated in two other categories: ‘Timeless‘ for Best Global Music Album and ‘Feel’ for Best Global Music Performance.

In the Best Global Music Performance category, the DMW boss will compete against Burna Boy, Arooj Aftab, Silvana Estrada, Béla Fleck, Falu, and Gaurav Shah.

Furthermore, he will contend with Burna Boy, Susana Baca, Shakti, and Bokante in the Best Global Music Album category.

The Grammy Award Premiere Ceremony is set to take place tonight at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
