2024 Grammys: ‘You’re everlasting winners’ – Sanwo-Olu sends message to Davido, Asake, others

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his appreciation for the Nigerian nominees at the 66th Grammy Awards despite their loss.

According to reports from HYPEBLOG9JA MEDIA, Nigerian artists did not secure wins in the categories they were nominated for. South African singer Tyla emerged victorious in the Best African Music Performance category, defeating Nigerian nominees Davido, Asake, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, responding to the outcome on Monday, encouraged the Nigerian nominees not to be disheartened by their lack of awards.

In a post on his official platform, Sanwo-Olu wrote: “A special shoutout to @davido, @burnaboy, @ayrastarr, @asakemusik, @Olamide, and @temsbaby, along with all Nigerian talents represented as nominees at the Grammy Awards, the pinnacle of global music recognition.

“Your exceptional talent reached unprecedented levels on those prestigious platforms, showcasing world-class skills that we are incredibly proud of.

“For those who may feel discouraged by the results, remember, in the eyes of your fans and Nigerians, you are eternal winners. With every arena and stadium you fill, your representation of Afrobeats and Nigeria remains unmatched, and soon you will grace the stages you desire as triumphant champions.

“Here’s to more memorable moments as you continue to share our stories with the world through your music.”
