Wrestling: Oborodudu, Biogos, others secure All Africa Games, Olympic qualifiers slot

Blessing Oborodudu, a former Olympics silver medalist, has earned her spot at the 2024 All Africa’s Games in Accra, Ghana.

In the 68kg category, Oborodudu achieved victory over Tokere Appah of Bayelsa State through a pinfall.

Additionally, Ebi Biogos of Bayelsa and Hannah Reuben of the Nigerian Army emerged victorious in the 72kg and 76kg categories, respectively.

In the male freestyle division, Soso Tamarau of Delta and Ashton Mutuwa of Plateau caused upsets in the 97kg and 125kg categories, respectively.

Mutuwa surprised national champion Progress Benson of Rivers to secure qualification for the African Games and the Olympic qualifiers.

Similarly, Harrison Israel of Bayelsa dashed the hopes of Jackson Oluwafemi of Ondo, a national champion in the 86kg category.

In the 65kg division, Stephen Simon of Bayelsa emerged victorious over former national champion Amas Daniel of Bayelsa.

Enozumini Simon of Edo joined the ranks of winners by securing his place at the African Games in the 57kg category.

The All African Games are set to take place in Accra, Ghana, from March 8 to 24, 2024.

The first Olympic qualifiers of the year are scheduled to be held from March 12 to 20 in Alexandria, Egypt.
