AFCON: Yul Edochie replies critics over fake prophecy

Yul Edochie, the controversial Nollywood actor turned pastor, has addressed the criticism surrounding his inaccurate prophecy regarding the outcome of the AFCON 2023 final.

Prior to the match on Sunday, Yul had predicted on his Instagram page that the Nigeria Super Eagles would emerge victorious over Ivory Coast in the final, confidently stating, “Today’s game will not go to a penalty shootout. Nigeria will comfortably defeat Ivory Coast.”

However, the Super Eagles suffered a 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast, prompting disappointment and accusations of fake prophecy from Nigerians on social media.

In response to the backlash, Yul acknowledged the defeat in a post on his page, expressing gratitude to the Super Eagles for their efforts. He emphasized that reaching the finals was commendable and expressed pride in his country, Nigeria, stating, “Win or lose, good or bad, we’ve been here. I love my country Nigeria. Better days ahead. Giant of Africa.”
