JUST IN: SSANU and NASU announce a seven-day warning strike

warning strike, In response to the nationwide strike in 2022, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) have announced a seven-day warning strike.

They demand payment for four months’ worth of withheld salaries from their workers.

After a weekend meeting in Akure, the joint action committee included the decision in its resolution for both unions.

SSANU President Mohammed Ibrahim revealed this on Monday in Abuja when he read the meeting’s communiqué to reporters.

Ibrahim said they opted for the strike as a final resort due to the Federal Government’s unpaid withheld salary.

This resulted from recent statewide rallies by the Nigeria Labour Congress against high living costs and ongoing economic challenges.
