90% of voice and internet services have been restored following the underwater cable cut — NCC

Its director of public relations, Ruben Muoka, issued a statement on Monday disclosing this.

Cuts in subsea cables caused disruptions to telephone networks and bank services on March 14, underwater cable cut.

Muoka, providing updates on the repair, stated that 90% of the network has been restored, and efforts continue for normalization.

“Muoka stated that services have now been restored to roughly 90% of their peak utilization capacities following the disruption on March 14, 2024.”

Affected operators restored about 90% peak capacity by utilizing recovery from unaffected underwater cables, mitigating the impact of the cuts.

“Operators activated alternative connections to normalize the situation, assuring data and voice services would operate optimally pending full repairs.”

NCC also thanked telecom users for their patience during the outage caused by the underwater fiber cuts.
