Adaora Umeoji has been appointed Group CEO of Zenith Bank

“Zenith Bank Plc appoints Dr. Adaora Umeoji as Group Managing Director/CEO, effective June 1, 2024, subject to Central Bank clearance.”

Umeoji will succeed Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, whose term ends on May 31, 2024, according to a statement submitted.

The appointment, said the announcement, is in line with the bank’s internal leadership development program and legacy.

“Since October 28, 2016, Dr. Umeoji has been the bank’s deputy managing director, utilizing about thirty years of banking experience.”

Completing Harvard’s Advanced Management Program, she also secured a Global Banking Program certificate from Columbia Business School.

Graduating with first-class honors in law from Baze University, she also holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and sociology from the University of Jos.

She earned a Certificate in Economics from MIT Sloan and attended management programs at Wharton and Harvard Business Schools.

She is affiliated with prestigious bodies like the Chartered Banker Institute, UK, and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Recognizing her contributions to nation-building, the Federal Government of Nigeria awarded her the Officer of the Order of the Niger in 2022.

Additionally, she is a United Nations Peace Advocate (UN-POLAC), CEO of Zenith Bank.
