Prepare yourself for the arrival of Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) if you’re eager to read more tales from the world of The Lion King!

The Lion King’s live-action remake debuted in 2019 to unfavorable reviews despite having some significant changes from the original. But it did quite well at the box office, grossing more than $1 billion. After that, it was likely just a matter of time until the House of Mouse approved a new release. That sequel proved to be the predecessor of Mufasa.

The protagonist of this tale is essentially revealed by the title. However, there are still a lot of unanswered uncertainties regarding the production. Now let’s get started.

Aaron Pierre is set to voice Mufasa in the upcoming Lion King prequel, as confirmed by Deadline in August 2021. He has previously appeared in movies such as M. Night Shyamalan’s Old and Brother, as well as the Amazon Prime miniseries The Underground Railroad. James Earl Jones voiced Mufasa in the live-action Lion King.

Kelvin Harrison Jr. will be portraying Scar, also known as “Taka,” before his name change, as reported in the same Deadline article. Harrison Jr. has a history in the industry, having starred in films like Mudbound, It Comes at Night, Cyrano, and most recently, Chevalier. Chiwetel Ejiofor voiced Scar in the live-action Lion King.

Seth Rogen is confirmed to return as the voice of Pumbaa, announced at D23 in September 2022. Rogen’s film credits include This Is The End, Neighbors, Superbad, Pineapple Express, and The Fablemans.
