NFF has banned; The Refereeing Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has removed center referee Zaharaudeen Nasiru from officiating in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

Nasiru’s dismissal stems from his subpar performance during the matchday 17 fixture between Jigawa Golden Stars and Sporting Supreme, where he erroneously awarded a goal scored via a handball to Jigawa Golden Stars, who ultimately won the game 2-1 in Dutse.

According to a memo issued, Nasiru’s decision during the Week 17 match tarnished the reputation of refereeing and the game in Nigeria.

As a result, the league has expelled him from refereeing altogether, effective immediately. Additionally, they have also expelled his assistant, Usman Auwalu, NFF has banned.

The NFF’s crackdown on substandard officiating in the NNL this season has led to the punishment of officials found to be in error.
