ONDO: Amotekun has detained and presented 45 suspects for questioning

Amotekun Corps, also known as the Ondo State Security Network Agency, has detained forty-five people who are allegedly terrorizing different areas of the state.

Adetunji Adeleye, the state’s Amotekun Corps commander, disclosed that 14 kidnappers were among the suspects taken into custody.

Adeleye disclosed during the suspects’ parading on Wednesday at the Corps headquarters in Akure, the state capital, that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa had ordered the release of 28 of the suspects to their families since they were first-time offenders.

He stated, “We are presenting 45 suspected criminals whom we apprehended for various offenses across the 18 LGAs. A few weeks ago, we assured the public of their safety during this festive season.

“We’ve caught 14 kidnappers, one reckless driver, five burglary suspects, two anti-grazing cases, and four instances of public disturbance.” We have a notable case where we successfully dismantled a kidnapping syndicate in Akoko LGA.

“The two kidnapping victims are present, along with the motorcycle supplied to the kidnappers. During prosecution, a confessed kidnapper was seriously injured by his accomplice wielding a machete to conceal the crime.
