Gov Otu increases Rovers FC’s subvention to N10 million

Gov Otu increases; The monthly subvention to the state-owned Rovers Football Club has been increased from N5 million to N10 million by Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu.

When the club and its technical team visited the governor yesterday, he made the 100% increment.

According to him, the raise is evidence of his commitment to running football like a business and repositioning football and sports in general in the state.

In addition, he pledged to look into other teething problems the football team was having and to give the team a brand-new bus by 2025.

“Let me express my gratitude and congrats on your accomplishments throughout the years despite a lack of funding. Rovers is a historically rich club. This administration is prepared to support sports as an industry.

Otu commended 18-year-old Clinton Andy, Rovers’ goalie, for representing Cross River and Nigeria’s under-20 team with pride.

He urged Rovers FC’s players and staff to redouble efforts for reclaiming dominance in Nigerian football, praying for more opportunities.

The governor ordered that all wounded football players receive emergency medical care.

Mrs. Agnes Atsu, the Sports Development Commissioner, stated the players visited the governor to address Rovers FC’s issues.

Rovers’ captain, Inyang Asuquo, highlighted issues: insufficient funds, a rundown team bus, inadequate player medical care, and camping expenses.

The team’s captain expressed gratitude to the governor for increasing the team’s subvention.
