UEFA plans to increase the number of players in its squads to 26.

A fortnight ago, in Dusseldorf, the notion was originally presented during a meeting of all the national coaches.

However, delegates at a meeting of the UEFA national competitions committee on Monday voted in favor of raising the squad size restriction from 23 to 26 players.

At Euro 2021, teams used expanded squads to assist them deal with the COVID-19 pandemic’s effects.

The UEFA executive committee (EXCO) must approve the regulation modification, so the decision is still pending. However, it is anticipated that this will only be a formality.
