Stanley Eguma, the head coach, has had his contract with Rivers United terminated.

Rivers United, a team in the Nigeria Premier Football League, has fired Stanley Eguma.

The club fired Eguma right away following Rivers United’s 2-1 loss to Remo Stars on Sunday.

The club required the seasoned strategist to defeat Sky Blue Stars in the match.

He was ranked 13th when he departed the Port Harcourt club.

The team was led by his assistant Evan Ogenyi during Thursday’s 0-0 draw with Kwara United.

The Pride of Rivers, led by Eguma, also known as “Capelo,” finished second in the 2016 domestic top flight, their first in the NPFL following the merger of Sharks FC and Dolphins FC by sponsors Rivers State Government to form what is now known as Rivers United FC. Eguma also led the team to the 2021 NPFL title win.
