Droughtlander is over! At least for the next several weeks, as the epic romance series returns. Outlander is back for the final season with new episodes streaming on Starz on Fridays. This season finds Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) back home in Fraser's Ridge after leaving the Revolutionary War, only to find the ridge has become a thriving settlement as people fleeing various life challenges find a home there. But with that growth comes unintended consequences, and the future of Fraser's Ridge might be in trouble, forcing them to choose what they are willing to do to save the home they've built. Meanwhile, more trouble is on the horizon as Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger (Richard Rankin) return from the future with disturbing news.

The journey that started in 2014 is concluding this year, and everyone is ready to witness it. Streaming data from FlixPatrol shows Outlander's global impact, as the show is among the most-watched on local and international streaming services. While it is available on Starz in the U.S., international viewers can watch new episodes on platforms like Netflix, Amazon, and Viaplay. Outlander has claimed its spot on many countries' top ten charts. In the U.S., it is breaking records.

Starz recently reported that the Season 8 premiere episode, titled "Soul of Rebel," drew close to three million multi-platform viewers in the first week of availability, with several platforms excluded. This most likely accounts for Live and same-day viewers, as well as streaming on the Starz app, but excludes international viewers. These numbers have pushed Outlander to a four-year series viewership high and made it the most-watched scripted cable program.

When a new actor takes over an existing role, audiences can be wary. On this first day of spring, let's look at some characters who got fresh starts.

'Outlander' Is Ending, but the Universe Continues

The eighth season of the hit romance series concludes the show's 13-year journey. However, this is not the last time viewers will immerse themselves in the world of Outlander. A spin-off series titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiered last year to wide acclaim and was renewed for Season 2, which wrapped filming in December 2025. Coincidentally, the return of the flagship series has also sparked renewed interest in the spin-off, making it the second-most-watched series on Starz at the time of writing. John Bell (Young Ian Murray), David Berry (Lord John Grey), Charles Vandervaart (William Ransom), and Izzy Meikle-Small (Rachel Murray) star alongside Balfe and Heughan in Outlander.

Catch new episodes on Starz, and stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
