PDP Can’t Win in Lagos Due to Weak Grassroots — Ex-Guber Candidate Jandor

Former Lagos State governorship candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has declared that the PDP has little to no chance of winning elections in Lagos due to its poor grassroots presence.

Speaking on Saturday after casting his vote in the state’s local council election, Jandor emphasized that the PDP lacks the foundational structures needed to compete effectively. He voted at Polling Unit 001, Ward D, in Irewe—a riverine community located in the Ojo area of the state.

Jandor, who recently decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that any party hoping to challenge the APC must first build strong grassroots connections. However, he added that, in his view, no party is currently in a position to unseat the APC in Lagos—nor does he foresee it happening anytime soon.

"While I was with the PDP, we introduced new ideas and gave it our best, but the party couldn’t gain ground because it lacked recognition and structure at the grassroots," he said.

He further praised the APC's organizational depth:
"The APC in Lagos has spent years building solid grassroots support and has become a household name in virtually every community. That’s why individuals like me, along with many supporters, decided to join the APC—to contribute to the ongoing development rather than remain in opposition
