In 1987, Lieutenant Troy "Assassin" Kelly is flying a covert mission over the Soviet Union when his aircraft is shot down. Stranded in the Russian wilderness, Troy is rescued by Nikolai Ustinov, a former KGB agent living in isolation. Despite their opposing backgrounds, the two form an unlikely partnership as they attempt to evade Soviet forces and make their way to safety.
