Zaph & Zoe Agro Exports is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Field Officer to oversee agro field operations. This role is ideal for someone who leads through action, takes ownership of responsibilities, and performs effectively with minimal supervision. Role Overview

The Field Officer will be responsible for managing and coordinating all field-level operations within the assigned area. You will ensure product quality, maintain strong supplier relationships, and proactively resolve issues before they affect operations.


Key Responsibilities

Quality Supervision & Control

  • Inspect and confirm product quality at farms and processing locations
  • Ensure all commodities meet export-quality standards prior to acceptance
  • Reject substandard products and provide constructive feedback to suppliers
  • Conduct routine and random quality checks across the supply chain
  • Prepare and maintain accurate quality inspection reports

Field Leadership

  • Coordinate activities with farmers, suppliers, and local aggregators
  • Lead by example and demonstrate best operational practices
  • Build and sustain strong relationships within farming communities
  • Train farmers and suppliers on quality and compliance requirements
  • Address conflicts and operational challenges professionally

Operations Coordination

  • Supervise product collection, sorting, cleaning, and packaging
  • Coordinate logistics including transportation, storage, and delivery schedules
  • Manage field workers and casual labor when required
  • Track inventory and product movement from farms to warehouses
  • Ensure timely delivery to processing and export facilities

Proactive Problem-Solving

  • Anticipate challenges such as weather issues, supply gaps, or quality risks
  • Independently develop and implement effective solutions
  • Escalate critical issues promptly with clear recommendations
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and field processes
  • Adapt quickly to changing operational conditions

Communication & Reporting

  • Submit daily and weekly field activity reports
  • Keep management informed on quality, availability, and market conditions
  • Maintain consistent communication with the head office
  • Document all transactions and field activities accurately
  • Respond promptly to calls, messages, and urgent requests

Required Experience & Skills

  • 2–5 years’ experience in agricultural field operations, quality control, or farm management
  • Knowledge of agricultural commodities such as grains, seeds, or produce
  • Hands-on experience working with farmers and rural communities
  • Strong inspection and quality assessment skills
  • Willingness to work in rural and remote locations
  • Basic smartphone proficiency (WhatsApp, photos, simple reporting tools)
  • Physically fit for field-based activities

Added Advantage

  • Experience in agro-export or commodity trading
  • Knowledge of export quality standards
  • Agricultural training or background
  • Fluency in local languages in addition to English
  • Experience managing teams
