A Criminally Overlooked 4-Part ‘90s Sci-Fi Series Leaves Streaming Soon
Will Smith has come a long way from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, to Bad Boys, I Am Legend, Hancock, and beyond, to now mostly serving as an executive producer for several TV shows and movies for the last few years. And while there have been plenty of movies chasing the same mix of swagger, comedy, and sci-fi cool, that original Agent J energy still hasn’t been matched, except by the show’s own animated counterpart.
As per a news report, the forgotten ‘90s animated sci-fi gem featuring all those agents has landed on a major free streamer’s leaving soon list, meaning its current run there is ending, even if an exact removal date hasn’t been posted. The timing stings because the series is notoriously hard to revisit: it ran four seasons (1997–2001) for 53 episodes, but only Season 1 ever made it to DVD, and broad streaming availability has been spotty. This recent free run was one of the rare moments when the full series was easy to binge in one place.
The title in question is Men in Black: The Series, and the platform about to lose it is Tubi. The reason it still holds up is simple: it plays like a monster-of-the-week sci-fi procedural with a consistent buddy dynamic, constantly rotating alien designs, and a bigger swing at worldbuilding than most of the live-action sequels ever attempted. The good news is that it won’t become impossible to watch. All four seasons are also free on The Roku Channel, but Tubi’s exit still matters because it closes one of the most frictionless press-play-and-burn-through-it routes for a ‘90s cult gem.

Is Will Smith Showing Up in Fewer Films Ever Since That Oscar Incident?
While it’s not possible to definitely prove whether this was a purely personal choice or happened because of circumstances, the data shows a clear drop in Smith’s acting output after the March 27, 2022, Oscars incident. In the 4 years before, Will Smith logged 6 film acting credits: Aladdin, Gemini Man, Spies in Disguise, Dads, Bad Boys for Life, and King Richard. In the 4 years after, he has 2 film acting credits: Emancipation and Bad Boys: Ride or Die. So that jump from 6 to 2 is a real slowdown, regardless of whether it was deliberate or consequential. It’s worth noting that his executive producer credits for multiple films and TV shows have been consistently high in the past few years.
Men in Black: The Series is set to leave Tubi soon. The exact date hasn’t been revealed yet. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
