Bob Odenkirk’s ‘Normal’ Teases a ‘Fargo’-Style Crime Showdown in New Look [Exclusive]
Have you seen stories about 'Chucky,' 'Scream,' 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' 'The Boys,' 'Vanderpump Rules,' or any of 'The Real Housewives' franchises? That's probably a Britta DeVore-curated piece of art, and it sounds like you have great taste.
When she isn't sitting behind her laptop bringing readers her hot takes on upcoming projects or keeping the dream alive in the Senior News team, Britta can usually be found outside hiking or inside behind her drum set. She currently plays in two bands, Kid Midnight and Watergate, both based in Brooklyn. An obsessive traveler, Britta loves long road trips to the South West and has a soft spot in her heart for canyons, rivers, and forests.
She also has a tiny cat named Athena that she loves more than anything else in the world and is always happy for new brewery recs.
Bob Odenkirk is channeling his inner Fargo character today in a new look at his upcoming high-octane feature, Normal. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re bringing fans of the award-winning actor a fresh peek at his latest dip into the world of action through the Ben Wheatley-helmed film. Marking another pairing between Odenkirk and John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, the project serves as the third time the actor and writer have collaborated on a project, with Kolstad previously penning the screenplay for the Better Call Saul alum’s ass-kicking franchise starter, Nobody, and its sequel, Nobody 2. This time around, Odenkirk also took a stab at the writers’ room, joining Kolstad as a co-author. Slated for a cinematic release in the U.S. courtesy of Magnolia Pictures on April 17, 2026, the movie continues to usher in Odenkirk’s action hero era.
Ready for a difficult day on the job, our exclusive new look at Normal sees Odenkirk’s Sheriff Ulysses sipping down a hot cup of joe on a chilly day. Decked out in his winter uniform complete with a beanie that features the word “Sheriff” scrawled across it, the lawman leans up against his patrol car and embraces the unforgiving chill of a frigid Minnesota winter.
With themes and characters sure to drum up memories of Ethan and Joel Coen’s Fargo, Normal centers its story around Odenkirk’s Sheriff Ulysses, who has recently uprooted his life to accept a new leadership position in the movie’s titular Minnesotan town. At first, small town life seems like it will suit this slower chapter in the police officer’s life just fine, but after a bank robbery blows things off the rails, Ulysses begins to discover that the town of Normal is bursting at its seams with a long-stretching criminal enterprise hidden from plain sight.
Meet the Star-Studded Cast of ‘Normal’
With Odenkirk leading the charge, Normal is already shaping up to be a wonderfully comedic building block in his takeover of the action genre. But beyond its leading man, Normal didn’t bother pulling the punches with its ensemble, featuring a vast lineup of familiar faces that also includes Henry Winkler (Happy Days, Barry), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Brendan Fletcher (Night Hunter), Billy MacLellan (In the Dark), Reena Jolly (Christmas on Call), Ryan Allen (Shoresy), Jess McLeod (One of Us Is Lying), Peter Shinkoda (Falling Skies), and more.
Check out Odenkirk in his latest action-packed role in our new look at Normal above. See it in cinemas across the United States on April 17. Stay tuned for more from Collider’s Exclusive Preview event all week.
