Ghostface Strikes Again in New Look at ‘Scream 7’ [Exclusive]
Have you seen stories about 'Chucky,' 'Scream,' 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer,' 'The Boys,' 'Vanderpump Rules,' or any of 'The Real Housewives' franchises? That's probably a Britta DeVore-curated piece of art, and it sounds like you have great taste.
When she isn't sitting behind her laptop bringing readers her hot takes on upcoming projects or keeping the dream alive in the Senior News team, Britta can usually be found outside hiking or inside behind her drum set. She currently plays in two bands, Kid Midnight and Watergate, both based in Brooklyn. An obsessive traveler, Britta loves long road trips to the South West and has a soft spot in her heart for canyons, rivers, and forests.
She also has a tiny cat named Athena that she loves more than anything else in the world and is always happy for new brewery recs.
Now playing in theaters, Scream 7 is continuing the tradition of the beloved horror franchise first helmed by Wes Craven three full decades ago. With franchise creator Kevin Williamson not only returning to co-pen the screenplay but also stepping into the role of director, the movie is giving fans everything they want and then some. Toss in the inclusion of numerous returning characters played by legendary stars like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, David Arquette, and Scott Foley, and it’s easy to understand why audiences are flocking to their local cinemas to unmask the genre favorite. Today, as part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’ve got a brand-new look at the horror favorite that’s off to a killer start at the box office.
While Campbell’s Sidney Prescott and Cox’s Gale Weathers may technically be the faces of the Scream franchise, there’s an even more iconic character that has spanned all seven installments: Ghostface. Today, in our exclusive new still from the blood-filled world of Scream 7, our readers are invited to take a closer look at the masked killer bringing pain and agony back into the lives of Sidney and her family. Staring straight into the camera, our exclusive image sees Ghostface ready to do some damage as he sets up shop in what appears to be the hallway of a home. Turning over his shoulder, it looks like, despite their hopes of staying quiet, the person (or persons) hiding from the maniac have still managed to attract his attention.
After stepping away from 2023’s Scream VI, Campbell is finally returning to the party for Scream 7 in a storyline that follows closely with her character. In the movie, Sidney (Campbell) is now living a life away from the horrors of Woodsboro as both a wife and mother. But, after her daughter, Tatum (Isabel May), becomes the target of a new Ghostface, Sidney is thrust back into the madness that she thought was behind her, with plenty of ghosts from her past returning to wreak havoc.
The Core Four Splits Up in ‘Scream 7’
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s Scream and Scream VI took the focus off Sidney and instead put it on half-sisters, Sam (Melissa Barrera) and Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega). After surviving the events of the fifth installment with their two pals, Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding), the siblings embarked on a journey to New York City in the sixth film, where Ghostface eventually found them again. While audiences have grown to adore the group so lovingly dubbed as “The Core Four,” the only two members returning for Scream 7 are Gooding and Savoy Brown.
