Synopsis
Tide of Love (바다의 사랑, literal translation: Love of the Sea) is a 2025 melodrama that swept Korean cable ratings in the spring. Set in the rugged coastal town of Pohang, it follows Han Soo-ah (Shin Min-ah), a strong-willed diver (haenyeo-inspired) who lost her fisherman father to a mysterious boating accident years ago, and Cha Min-jae (Ji Chang-wook), a cold-hearted maritime conglomerate heir sent to shut down the town’s struggling fishing co-op as part of a resort development project. When evidence surfaces that Min-jae’s own company may have been involved in covering up Soo-ah’s father’s death, their initial hatred explodes into forbidden attraction amid stormy seas, corporate conspiracies, family secrets, and life-or-death diving sequences. Classic makjang meets breathtaking ocean cinematography, complete with wrist-grabs, rain-soaked confessions, and enough birth secrets to fill a tide pool.
